inbiome is a fast-growing scale-up located at the Amsterdam Science Park. Our international team of around 30 colleagues combines molecular biology, data science, hardware engineering, and software development, working as a tightly integrated unit with a shared mission.

We are now looking for a hands-on IT Systems Administrator (32 hours per week) to take ownership of the IT that keeps our office, laboratory and regulated operations running.

The Role: IT Systems Administrator (32 hours per week)

Inbiome combines laboratory technology, software, data science and infrastructure in a regulated environment, where reliability, security and controlled change matter. Today our IT is run by our developers and data scientists alongside their day jobs. We want to give it a dedicated owner.

You will be the person colleagues rely on when something does not work, but this is not a service-desk role: we want someone who solves root causes, improves recurring processes and builds an IT environment that is well organised and maintainable.

Your work will include:

• Administering Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Intune and Entra ID, including users, permissions and devices
• Setting up and maintaining laptops, desktops and workplace systems, including onboarding and offboarding
• Supporting and updating the computers and IT systems used in our laboratory
• Providing first-line support on Microsoft 365 tools and third-party applications
• Documenting systems and procedures, and automating repetitive work
• Supporting our IT security setup and testing for our IVDR and FDA requirements

As you get to know our systems and organisation, the role grows with you: into automating laboratory processes, regulated IT operations, and Azure Cloud and Kubernetes infrastructure alongside our development team.

Who We Are Looking For

We care more about practical ability, technical curiosity and ownership than about a particular academic background.

You may be a strong fit if you:

• Have hands-on systems administration experience, ideally with Microsoft 365
• Understand the fundamentals of users, permissions, networking, devices and cloud services
• Work in a structured way and document what you do
• Communicate well with both technical and non-technical colleagues
• Enjoy structurally improving systems & processes rather than repeatedly working around the same problems
• Are enthusiastic and eager to learn new areas such as Azure, Kubernetes, scripting and regulated IT
• Are flexible and happy to take on tasks beyond the job description in a small, fast-moving team

Experience with laboratory IT or regulated environments (ISO 13485, IVDR, FDA) is useful, but not required.

We especially value people who genuinely enjoy working with technology. That curiosity might show up through scripting, self-hosting, home labs, Linux, networking, containers, cloud technology, automation, or simply experimenting with systems because you wanted to understand how they work.
